Wasp types that Richmond Hill homes have to contend with

Canada primarily has to content with 4 types of wasps and they are paper wasps, yellow jackets, bald faced hornets and mud dauber wasps. These wasps can change in color and designs as you will find shapes like triangles and diamonds. Two wispy wings, 6 legs and seemingly disjointed bodies with colors ranging from yellow, black, white, and reddish brown are the features of wasps and they are too blessed with stingers that can inject venom in to victims repeatedly without breaking them. Bees lose their stingers after they bite someone and in the process die and that does not happen with wasps. They can be dangerous as they are capable of pumping venom with every sting and that makes them more dangerous. Wasp stings can be excruciatingly painful and it is more dangerous to people with allergic symptoms and the experience for them will be more traumatic. You need to get rid of wasps and their nests and for that you should call professional wasp control Richmond Hill such as BBPP (Best Bugs and Pest Protection) and get rid of them.

Types of wasps

Yellow Jackets

Most fearsome of the wasps and they are little larger than paper wasps. They have a body covered with black and yellow stripes and they are 3/8 to 5/8 inches long. Yellow jackets mostly build nests underground which are mostly burrows left vacant by rodents. These are highly dangerous when they get into frenzy at the site of enemies and flock together to attack the person or animal concerned. Yellow jackets build papery nests with a cover over them.

Bald faced hornets

These are recognized by their white face and black body. They are larger than other wasps and they can grow up to 15mm to 20mm. they build nests in soffits and overhangs and most of their activities are carried out during day time. Hornets have a bad reputation of being killers as the Asian giant hornet is attributed to fatalities by wasp attack in the Eastern Region of the world. However they are not as aggressive as yellow jackets and only attack people when they see danger to their nest in the form of you.  Their nests are built like a globe or football and it is mostly covered from outside to conceal the cells inside. It has a single opening in the bottom of the nest.

Paper wasps

Paper wasps build nests using wood fibers and their own saliva that they mix and come up with a pulp that they use to build umbrella shaped nests. The nest is held by a wick which is attached to solid surface. They have open honey combed nests containing a number of cells where they keep babies and food. They are not aggressive like yellow jackets and hornets but will attack only when they see a threat to their nest.  Generally they are dark brown and they can grow up to a length of 0.5 to 1.5 inches.

Mud Daubers

These are harmless wasp species but they can deface your building walls and home surfaces with their ugly hornlike nests that they build with mud and water or saliva. They build single nests where they keep their larvae and baby food such as dead spiders. They are strange in appearance because they have a non-existent waist which is a wispy cord that is almost invisible. They are black and green in color and they do not attack human unless you sit upon their nest. However they are not good for your architecture and these solitary wasps build a series of nests that can encroach on your space.
